Military ~ssions by Civil Air Patrol Pilots
Clothing and Equipment
All Wing Commanders
I. All pilots assigned to service on permanent or semi-permanent
missions for the Armed Forces will be instructed as follows:
B e f o r e r e p o r t i n g f o r d u t y, t h e y w i l l p r o v i d e t h e m s e l v e s
with the necessary CAP uniform clothing for the type of
work to which they are assigned.
They will make sure they have sufficient such clothing
for the time they are to be on duty away from their
homes.
They will also provide themselves v~th any equipment
they consider necessary to their safety or comfort while
o n d u t y.
Requests for Army issue clothing or equipment cannot be
granted, so to avoid embarrassment they should not make
the request.
The Army has no means of supplying them with such items
as flying suits, helmets, parachutes, etc., as such can
only be drawn from Army stores by Army personnel.
They must make provision to pay for food, and housing
for themselves, and gas, oil, and maintenance for their
aircraft until their vouchers covering those expenses
are paid. As a rule, vouchers are paid within two weeks
of their being submitted, and they are submitted only on
the 15th and last day of the month. They should, therefore, have sufficient funds to cover above expenses for
one month from date of reporting.
