All Unit Commanders

i. Civil Air Patrol members are not required to
salute officers of the Armed Services. This Headquarters
believes, however, that in the best interests of Civil Air
Patrol that it is desirable for members and officers of
Civil Air Patrol, upon approaching officers of the Military
Services, senior in grade to themselves, to render the salute.
2 . T h e p e r s o n n e l a n d o f fi c e r s o f t h e A r m y, N a v y
and Marine Corps are not required to salute officers of Civil
Air Patrol, but it is believed that generally such officers
will accord the salute. Therefore, officers and members of
Civil Air Patrol can best conduct themselves by adhering to
a l l t h e r u l e s o f m i l i t a r y c o u r t e s y.
