i. After this date, all inquiries concerning the purchase of CAP insignia should be addressed to the Insignia Officer
of the Office of Civilian Defense, Dupont Circle Building, Washington, D. C.
2. The directions set forth in GM-29 with reference
to the purchase of Pilot Wings, Observer Wings, Cap Insignia,
Shoulder Insignia, and Arm Bands, are rescinded and superseded by
this memorandum.
3. The following articles of insignia may be purchased
direct from the manufacturers listed on the reverse side:

of the Office of Civilian Defense, Dupont Circle Building, Washington,
D. C. ("Official Articles" for the Civil Air Patrol are those articles,
embodying the patented three-bladed pro~ellcr design, prescribed by the
Director of Civilian Defense and listed~in Section 5 of the enclosed
Supplementary Order No. B dated May 28, 19~ to 0CD Regulation 3, aad
in Amsndmeni No. 2 of this order dated July 28, 1942. These "Official . "
Articles" m~vy bc manufactured, sold and distributed only by manufacturers
licensed by the Washington office of the Office of Civilian Defense. Other
authorized insignia not embodying the basic GAP design, such as insignia of

3. Manufacturers licensed te date to manufacture, s ell, and
distribute Civil Air Patrol "Official Articles" are listed herewith. All
orders for "officip~ articles" will be placed direct with them by the Wing,

National Headquarters does not have a priority for its purchase.
6. The auShorized enlisted men's uniform with blouse undoubtedly
~annot be acquired. Therefore, th@ use of the tan leather-jack~,t, with red
shoulder straps, ~ilI be continued.
7. Flight Officers will wear the santo uniform as th~ commissioned
officers, the shoulder rank insignia being that of the Junior Warrs/it
Officer U. S. i. (single brown enamel bar with gold stripe cross-wise).
8. 'Non-co~missioned officers and private first-class chevrons ~ill~'~
h a v e t o b e m a d e u p l o c a l l y. T h e s t a n d a r d A r, ~ : c h e v r o n m a y b e p u r c h a s e d , t h e
background removed, and a red backgro~uud substituted.
9. The silver ~ing and propeller collar orn~lent will net be worn
on the officers' cap, as stated in GI'--&5, 2-b. The only authorized cap
ornament for all Civil Air Patrol personnel is the "ulue disc, %~hite triangle
with red three-bladed propeller super-Lnposed.
10. Commissioned officers end flight officers will not wear collar
prnaments on the shirt ~hen the blouse is "-~orn.
1h The Air Corps O. D. blouse with red sheulder loops and red
s l e e v e b r a i d i s s p e c i fi e d f o r c o m m i s s i o n e d o f fi c e r s ' w e a r. T h a t b l o u s e
has a .served-on belt without buckle. No other belt will be worn.
12. G~-&5 specified the over-seas cap with tea piping. Note: No
other cap or hat is authorized for officers or e~.isted persorknel.
13. Silver buttons, embodxing the triar~le and propeller design,
are authorized for wear on all outer garment atricles of tlie official
uniform in place of th~ cold army buttons.
li. Strike sentence 3, paragraph 2.k.~5 and insert in lieu
thereof: In emergencies, an arm band b~aring the CAP shouldgr emblem with
U. S. may be worn on civilian clothes.
