1, Civil Air Patrol pilot personnol assigned to a duty which involves
T/orldng under the supervision of officers of the Armed Forces, are generally
accepted as, and given the privileges of visiting Army officers at Array poste
or bases# To avoid embarrassment of these pilots, the fol3.oi^ihc procedure is
^ in order.
2, Tou are hereby authorized to issue temporary appointments to the
grade of 2nd Lieut, to pilot officers in your Wing who are assigned to
subject duty#
3, All such appointments ore to be made in v/ritir»g, and It must ^
clearly explained that the appointments terminate at the expiration of the
/
special orders assigning the pilot to such duty.
It is important that the necessary relinquishing of the Insignia of
rejok and appointment at the expiration of duty, be omphasized when n.ppointmects are made,
5 No reports need be forwarded to National Headquarters regarding
these t^porary appointments. It vdll be taken for granted that the appoint
ment has been made by the Viing Conunander when the pilot is assigned to duty
with a unit of the Armed Forces.
6 Civil Air Patrol officer personnel who have been duly appointed in
^ euch gr^e,'^ll Tnalntaln their Civil Air Patrol rank when assigned to above
duties«
