TABLE OF ORGANIZATION FOR CIVIL AIR PATROL
1. General
Wing and Group Headquarters and Squadrons will be organised
i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h t h e C i v i l A i r P a t r o l Ta b l e o f O r g a n i z a t i o n ( T / O ) .
This table establishes relative rank and grade of personnel and the
m a x i m m s t r e n g t h i n e a c h c a t e g o r y. U n i t s s a y o p e r a t e a t a s t r e n g t h
below the mximum, but will not exceed it.
2.

AuthoritT

It must be remembered that it is not rank but constituted
authority which commands obedience. Thus, a Wing Staff Operations
Officer by virtue of the authority of his position and as representative
of his Commander may, in line of duty, give orders to a Group Coamnder.
3. Duties
Duties of the Wing, Group and Squadron Offt6ers are discussed in Training Directive No. 20 - Duties of Co~ma~ and Staff
O f fi c e r s . O f fi c e r s m a y b e a s s i g n e d t o m o r e t h a n o n e d u t y. F o r

the pilots assigned %o a flight.
4.

The organization of Sections within the Squadron is shown
i n t h e v e r t i c a l c o l t ~ n s o f t h e O r g a n i z a t i o n Ta b l e . E a c h S e o t i o n
Staff Officer will be responsible for seeing that all personnel
assigned to his 8eetlon are fully informed as to their duties within
the Section.

Photo~"a~e Section

In accordance with war regulations, at the present time
cameras will not be taken aloft in aircraft. As the Civil Air
Patrol proves its military value, it may be called upon to perform
certain photographic missions. Hence, provision has been made for
the organization of Photographic Sections in Civil Air Patrol Squadrons.

qualifications
a - Pilot Officer ratings required.
h - Pilot Officer ratings required for Executive Officers and Operations
Officers, but are optional for other Staff Officers.
c - If qualified, these officers may also be assigned to the Squadron Flights.
d - Pilots and Observers who have not qualified for the sOfftcer" ratios.
- A & E Mechanics, if available.
f - Mechanic.
g - Professionally qualified.
- DeputF Staff Officers to be assigned from Pilot and Observer Officers.
