At long last I hays the honer and the groat pleasure to inform

that category and I am certainly delighted that the long over-due
honor can now be paid to you. It never has seemed fair to me that
the Army and Navy Pilots received such decorations for the flying
that they were doing, which w~s entirely parallel to the type that
we were doing, at the same time, and yet our status did not allow
us to be eligible for the award.
By now you have undoubtcd!y received a letter from the ReUnion
Committee informing you that we ~re having our reunion this year at

ycu were planning to be there anyway; but if you were not, ! hope
this will give you an added impetus to try to be on hand, for nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see the General pin that
medal on your chest. Of course, if you just absolutely can't get
there, we certainly will see to it that your medal gets to you anyw a y, b u t I c e r t a i n l y h o p e y o u w i l l b e t h e r e i n p e r s o n .
