SUMMARY NARRATIVE OF MAJOR ACTIVITIES
Chapter I

OPERATIONS

Search and Rescue
OUR SEARCH AND RESCUE (SAR) PROGRAM IS MOVING FORWARD DESPITE
CHALLENGES OF LOSING OUR PRIMARY SAR MISSION TO THE STATE OF UTAH
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY (DPS) IN MAY 2017. THE STATE APPROACED
AFRCC WHEN REVISING THE 25+ YR OLD SAR MOU AND RECOMMENDED THAT
ALL SAR NOTIFICATION BE DONE VIA STATE EOC. SINCE THE STATE DICTATES
WHO IS NOTIFIED, AFRCC COMPLIED WITH THE REQUEST.
ONCE THE EOC IS
NOTIFIED, THEY DECIDE WHO IS SENT ON THE SAR MISSION. CURRENTLY, THE
DPS HELICOPTER IS THE PRIMARTY SAR PLATFORM. IS IS SUPPORT BY CAP CELL
PHONE FORENSICS TEAM AS THEY CAN NARROW DOWN THE SEARCH AREA TO
WITHIN A FIVE MILE RADIUS, PERFECT FOR A HELICOPTER SEARCH CAPABILITY.
