OPERATIONS

1. MAJOR EVENTS OF THE YEAR INCLUDED NUMEROUS EXERCISES AND
AN EVAL. THE CAP-USAF OPERATIONS EVALUATION IN MAY 2017
RESULTED IN A HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL RATING FOR NEW JERSEY WING.
STARTING IN MAY 2017, THE OPERATIONS TEAM PARTICIPATED IN
OPERATION CROSS TELL FOR FIRST AIR FORCE. THIS OPERATION
INCLUDED THE 177TH FIGHTER WING AND THE UNITED STATES COAST
GUARD AIR STATION ATLANTIC CITY. THIS MISSION WAS HIGHLY
SUCCESSFUL AND LED TO A WEEKLY AIR DEFENSE INTERCEPT
MISSION WITH THE COAST GUARD BEING ESTABLISHED. UPON COL
JOE ABEGG ASSUMING COMMAND IN JULY 2017, THE ENTIRE
OPERATIONS TEAM WAS RETAINED AND HAS LED TO AN EXTREMELY
VIBRANT OPERATIONS PROGRAM WITHIN NEW JERSEY WING.

1. MAY 2017 - WE NOW HAVE 57 QUALIFIED CD MEMBERS WITH 3 MORE
NEEDING TO TAKE THE ONLINE COURSE/TEST AND 7 READY TO SUBMIT
TO NATIONAL.2. 41 ATTENDED THE ONE DAY PAWG CD TRAINING IN
HARRISBURG ON APRIL 8TH AND 4 OF OUR AIRCRAFT FLEW TO KCXY.
2. OCTOBER 2017 - FROM 9/24 – 9/30 WE HAD 10 CD SORTIES FOR A TOTAL
OF 21.3 HOURS AND 2 RELO SORTIES FOR A TOTAL OF 1.4 HOURS. ON
9/30 THE TRENTON CREW SUBMITTED PHOTOS OF WHICH TWO
LOCATIONS WERE DEEMED OF “INTEREST” TO THE PENNSYLVANIA
STATE PATROL (PSP) AND THE POLICE PLANNED TO FLY OVER THEM
THE NEXT DAY TO CHECK THEM OUT.

1. IN CY17, THE ES DEPARTMENT CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON INCREASING
PARTICIPATION IN EMERGENCY SERVICES AND GROWING THE TEAM
OF EXPERTS ON THE TEAM AT THE WING LEVEL. THE TEAM
CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON TRAINING AND GETTING PARTICIPATION UP
TO LEVELS WHERE WE COULD START TO SUPPORT NEW MISSIONS. IN
CY17 WE ACHIEVED A 225% INCREASE OVER CY16 AND 350% INCREASE
OVER CY15 IN THE NUMBER OF TOTAL INITIAL ES RATINGS AND
RE-QUALIFICATIONS (262-CY17 VS. 116-CY16 VS. 75-CY15). THIS GROWTH
MARKS A SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT SINCE THE CURRENT ES TEAM
WAS PUT IN PLACE AT THE BEGINNING OF CY16. THIS WAS ACHIEVED
THROUGH THE BIANNUAL OFFERING OF THE MISSION AIRCREW
GROUND SCHOOL, REGULAR MISSION AIRCREW TRAINING DAYS,
ANNUAL GROUP SPONSORED UDF COURSES AND THE ANNUAL
GROUND TEAM ACADEMY. NJ WING PARTICIPATED IN 11 REAL WORLD
MISSIONS WITH NUMEROUS NON-DISTRESS FINDS.
