The North Carolina Wing Headquarters was established in December 1941, at the CAA building in
Charlotte NC, under the command of Junius M. Horner. During the next 74 years Wing Headquarters has
moved several times and now is at the current location at the Burlington – Alamance Regional Airport.

Cadet Programs
The North Carolina Wing Cadets have been very active during 2014. The cadets participated in the Middle East
Region Cadet Competition representing the North Carolina Wing. During 2014 they cadets also attended a Wing
Encampment at North. During 2014 Cadets from various Squadrons participated in Aerospace Education Days, with
model rocketry and orientation flights being some of the events taking place. NC Wing cadets also benefited from
the glider program of 52 glider flights during 2013.

Emergency Services/ Operations
During 2014 the Wing was very active with training and actual missions. North Carolina Wing responded to calls
for assistance from the U.S. Air Force and other state support missions as well. During 2013 the North Carolina
Wing Completed 18 missions; 11 Search and Rescue missions resulting in credit for 5 finds, 1 save and 7 other State
Support missions.
